After children in the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), started the new 2017/18 school year, today, so will the students in most of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). Students are returning to their school desks, while first-graders are getting acquainted with school-related responsibilities.
Lectures will start today in the following cantons: Sarajevo, Zenica-Doboj, Bosnian Podrinje, Una-Sana, Tuzla, Central Bosnian, Livno, West Herzegovina and Posavina.
In the Hercegovina-Neretva Canton, lessons will begin on September 4th for schools that use the Croatian curriculum and on September 5th for schools using the Bosnian curriculum.
In Canton Sarajevo, there were major changes, especially regarding elementary education. In the new school year, the new Law on elementary and high school education will be implemented.
In 76 elementary and 42 high schools in Canton Sarajevo, the new school year will begin. There are a total of 4,036 first-grade students and near 3,800 students entering high school.
After the second enrollment deadline, there were 14 high schools in Canton Sarajevo with more room for students. Students filled all free spaces in crafts, while the remaining free spaces in schools will be filled by September 4th.
