The Chief of the EU Delegation to B&H / the EU Special Representative Peter Sorensen stated today in Sarajevo during a press conference that a lot more needs to be done in order to achieve a solution on the implementation of the European judgment for human rights on the case “Sejdić – Finci”.
Sorensen stressed that the EU Delegation on the current discussions does not negotiate but is trying to help political parties to hold discussions with each other. If any result comes out of this discussions, the politicians should bring it to the state institutions in order for the judgment to be implemented.
“Since the solution is not required from the EU but from B&H, we still do not have any document that proposes a solution”, stated Sorensen.
The Chief of the EU Delegation said that everyone who has participated in the discussions with the European Commissioner for Enlargement Štefan Fuele is clear that there are outline solutions. However, these are “just the outline solutions, the solution will be achieved when the leaders agree and transfer it at the parliament”.
“In my opinion, there is still a way to go. Considering the fact that I have participated in discussion since 2011, I already know well the views of different parties. It will take a lot of political courage and compromises”, stated Sorensen.
He considers that the solution from the technical side is very simple but it requires a great political work.
