The delegation of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection (SIPA) was on an official visit to the police structure of Austria from 28-30 May with the goal to improve cooperation in the area of the fight against all forms of organized crime and corruption.
The SIPA delegation, led by Director Goran Zubac, the Assistant Director for the Criminal Investigative Division, and the Acting Head for the Fight Against Terrorism and Trafficking held a meeting with the General Director for Public Security of Austria.
The topic of the discussion was the current security situation at the local and international level, and a future joint appearance through the formation of joint investigative teams.
As part of the visit, the SIPA delegation held a meeting with the Director of the Federal Criminal Police Office, as well as with the Director of the Federal Office for the Protection of the constitutional order and the fight against terrorism. A visit was organized to the Special Police Unit of the Austrian Police EKO Cobra.
At the meetings there was a direct exchange of intelligence between the law enforcement agencies and concrete future cooperation was agreed on.
With this in mind, in the next 15 days the operation of joint investigative teams will begin in specific cases of organized crime, with the coordination of the BiH Prosecution and the Austrian Prosecution.
The General Director for Public Security of Austria and his closest associates fully supported the idea of SIPA on forming a regional center in the fight against terrorism as part of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection, whose task will be the fight against terrorism in the Balkans, announced SIPA.
