Christmas is the time that makes people noble, it gives them strength, brings joy into their lives and restores the faith in a better tomorrow. Christmas fills people’s hearts with blessings, love and peace, and with inexhaustible desire for building a society of prosperity and love among people, said the Croat member of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Čović last night in Sarajevo while addressing numerous invitees at the reception organized on the occasion of Christmas.
“I kindly ask you to convey our thoughts and warmth from this joint Christmas gathering of ours for at least a moment to those who are exposed to horrors and terror of war event throughout the world,” said Čović, adding:
“We, who gathered here, are maybe not able to make global decisions or influence them significantly, but each one of us can contribute at least a little bit to make things better in our homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
“Dear God gave us this beautiful country as a heritage, and it is on us to arrange it and make it function well, make it the pride of all constituent nations and all citizens that live here. At last year’s Christmas reception we clearly emphasized the need for acceleration of Euro-Atlantic processes. With a lot of disbelief, today we can proudly say that we are doing things right. This is not an easy job, but it is feasible,” said Čović.
Čović thanked everyone who believed in them, who helped the authorities submit a credible request for membership in the EU, which was confirmed some ten days ago when BiH received the Questionnaire from the European Commission, which was another significant step forward for BiH.
“We will not stop there. In the year that comes, nobody can stop us on this path. All of us have a lot of things to do, we must harmonize the legislative infrastructure, implement the decision by the Court in Strasbourg, as well as the verdicts pronounced by the Constitutional Court of BiH,” said Čović.
When it comes to internal plans, Čović said: “May our primary aim be the strengthening of economic stability of the entire country and every part of it, as well as the need for emphasizing the social sensibility in all structures of our society.”
“In order to succeed in all of this, we must be strongly oriented towards our unity. May this holiday time encourage us, motivate us and give us strength to be happy together, and built peace and love among all people,” said Čović at the Christmas reception, which was attended by numerous domestic and international guests.
