Round table ” What gender is security”

NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo and Sarajevo Open Centre organized a round table, “What gender is security?”, in order to promote greater participation of women in decision-making and to strengthen the capacity of local women’s organizations.

NATO is extremely dedicated to the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

BiH and NATO have an Action Plan to implement the Resolution which obliges them to cooperate with the local communities and non-governmental organizations to raise awareness about the Resolution and the need of participation of women in decision-making.

There 6.2% of women in the Armed Forces of BiH.

The goal of the round table is to encourage women from small communities to be more involved in the decision making process, but also to hear their views on security.
