Institute for Statistics of Republika Srpska presented its results of the census of population, households, and apartments conducted in 2013-
According to the Institute, 1.176.372 citizens live at the territory of this entity, 82.95 percent of who are Serbs, 12.69 percent Bosniaks, and 1.25 percent Croats.
What is interesting is that according to the Institute for Statistics of RS there are less residents than according to the results by the Agency for Statistics of BiH. Namely, according to the national agency there are 1.228.432 citizens in RS. The different between these two sets of results are 52.060 residents.
Moreover, the data of the two agencies differ in the percentage of nations in the RS. According to the national agency, there are 81.51 percent of Serbs in that BiH entity.
According to the adopted Law on Processing and Publishing the Results of the Population Census, the results in that BiH entity are published by the entity Institute for Statistics. Republika Srpska did not accept the results published by the Agency for Statistics of BiH in June this year.
Of the total number of residents in the RS, 598.530 are women and 571.812 are men.
Director of the Institute for Statistics of RS Radmila Čičković reminded that the census in BiH has been implemented in accordance with the Law on the Census of Population and Households and that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted the Law on Processing and Publishing the Results of the Population Census for RS.
The census was being implemented in the period from October 1 until October 15, 2013 and the RS rejected the census results published by the Agency for Statistics of BiH, claiming that they are not credible.
