FC Zeljeznicar started readying the Grbavica stadium where the national teams of Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will play a qualification round on October 7th for the World Championship in Russia.
After the stadium Bilino Polje in Zenica was suspended, the stadium in Grbavica was the closest one to meeting all the requirements for playing an international match. UEFA inspectors visited the home of Zeljeznicar and had certain demands regarding the terrain and the space for reporters on the stadium. They were very satisfied with the changes at their next, especially since they were made in such a short period of time, while Zeljeznicar is working hard so that the national team can have the ideal conditions for the match with Belgium.
Zeljeznicar is working today to fix the terrain, specifically changing specific parts and artificial grass, after which there will be some modifications on the reporters’ lounge, as well as on fulfilling the other requests.
The arrival of the national team to Grbavica is the biggest proof of the development of Zeljeznicar, especially on relation to its infrastructure. The east stands were constructed in the largest post-war project, which was financed by the Club and its fans and sympathizers. Recently, Zeljeznicar announced the construction of the south stands so that, slowly but surely, Grbavica is becoming a respectable soccer place.
