There are places that, despite the current situation, offer or marketing, are traditionally attracting a large number of tourists. One of the most recognizable pictures of Herzegovina is the one in Blagaj, a tourist attraction made of a river, stone and unmeasurable cultural and historic wealth.
There is no part of the year when you won’t find a whole column of tourists in Blagaj.
Tourists from Turkey have dominated in the last several years, which is explained by the good work of tourist agencies on that market, but a significant number of tourists is coming from America, Africa, Asia, with usual guests from the Far East, which are already considered as regular guests in Herzegovina.
Small shops that you encounter along the road that is leading from Blagaj carsija to famous dervish tekke and the source of Buna, are already working full steam. Together with standard tourist products, you can see some of the Blagaj’s original offers here as well, including honey, herbs, and original souvenirs.
Daniel Durant from Mexico visited Blagaj together with his wife and two children, and they enjoyed, for them, an unusual sight of strange buildings on a large spring.
“We were traveling in this part of Europe and we were looking for interesting places to see. Blagaj looked especially interesting to us, so we had to extend our trip for two days more to come and see what they are hiding here. We are delighted, we will tell all about this to our friends when we return to our Ciudad de Mexico”, said Daniel.
Serdar from Izmir, who is visiting BiH for the first time, said: “Our people are similar by mentality, and we have a common history, and that attracts many Turks to visit your country”.
Besides many problems that our society is going through, including local and global financial crisis and political turbulence, some things cannot be affected. Tourists are coming to Blagaj no matter what, because of Buna, tekke, the Old town placed high on a cliff and unique ambiance.
