Pieter Everaers, the director at the Office for Statistics of the European Commission (EUROSTAT) and the chairman of the Steering Group of the International Monitoring Organization (IMO) for the population and households census in B&H, stated yesterday in Sarajevo that he hopes that the results of the census will be published until the end of 2015.
He emphasized that there is a delay in data processing due to technical issues related to the inclusion or exclusion of certain groups of citizens in the category of permanently inhabited ones, and that he asked the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B&H, Denis Zvizdic, to provide the support to the finalization of the census results, which he accepted.
He added that the task of IMO is to monitor the process of preparation and publishing of data of the census in order to ensure that they are in accordance with the international standards, which would enable to B&H to has a reliable data based on which the country can create policies, as well as international organizations such as the World bank and IMF.
Everaers said that the importance of the census results is in the fact that B&H signed the Stabilization an Association Agreement with the EU, and based on the statistics members of the EU determine how much of the funds they allocate for the Union, and how much funds the EU allocates from its funds for the support to various sectors.
