The four-day training on data journalism and news activism for civil society activists finished yesterday in Sarajevo.
The training was organized with the cooperation of the OSCE Mission to BiH and Mediacenter Sarajevo, with a particular focus on strengthening gender equality in BiH through the Internet and social media.
Civil society activists acquired technical knowledge and skills in the field of data journalism, advocacy based on evidence, the development of internet applications, software for mapping and infographics.
During the training, activists picked and analyzed topics that included the budget allocation for the NGO sector, men and women in the BiH Parliament, prosecution of domestic violence and the rights of mothers.
Participants will now write their own articles and develop infographics using information available in order to highlight and publicly present various forms of inequality in BiH, with a focus on gender equality.
In the second half of 2013, the Mission will select the best works, and will further promote them as the best examples from practice and models, announced the OSCE Mission to BIH.
