The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina supported a regional conference on continued professional development of teachers held in Sarajevo on 26th of February 2013. The event was organized by the British Council in B&H.
The Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission, Nina Suomalainen, emphasized that competent and well-trained teachers are essential for developing a high-quality education system.
“Education should be less about politics and more about the quality of teaching and the development of schools where pupils can learn in a supportive and welcoming environment. The continued professional development of teachers is central to achieving this goal.”- said Suomalainen.
The conference gathered education experts from B&H, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Slovenia, who exchanged experiences and discussed examples of good practice in the region.
