The official marking of April 6, the Day of Sarajevo, started this morning by paying tribute and laying flowers in front of the Eternal Fire, the monument to the victims of World War II.
Numerous delegations as well as citizens who are remembering two very important dates in the history of Sarajevo, April 6, 1945 and 1992, gathered in the city center.
With the program of marking the Day of Sarajevo is planned laying flowers and paying tribute to martyrs and killed soldiers at the Martyrs cemetery “Kovaci”, the Monument to the murdered children of besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, the tombs of murdered policemen in the Great Park, in front of the sculpture of Vladimir Peric Valter, the Memorial Park “Vraca”, the Old Jewish Cemetery, and city cemeteries.
Trebevic cable car will be put into operation again at 11 AM, after 26 years.
The program will be completed in the evening hours in the City Hall, where the solemn session of the City Council will take place, and within which will be held official awarding ceremony. Besides the councillors, at the session were also invited diplomats in BiH, representatives of all levels of government in our country, war veteran organizations and former mayors. The “April 6th Award” will be handed over at this session, and it is award given to prominent individuals, groups and collectives for their special contribution.
