The National football team of BiH could play soon at the new national stadium that would be constructed in Sarajevo.
The representatives of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Football Association of BiH paid a visit to the Municipality of Novi Grad yesterday, where the conceptual project of a new national stadium was presented to them.
The capacity of the stadium that would be built in the territory of the municipality with the largest number of citizens in the city of Sarajevo would be 30,000 seats. The stadium would belong to the fourth category of stadiums that fulfils all the conditions for the official UEFA and FIFA matches, which includes the Champions League.
Nebojsa Ivkovic from UEFA, the inspector for infrastructure criteria of football stadiums, a team of experts from the Football Association of BiH Nihad Hodzic and Adil Osmanovic and the Mayor of the Municipality of Novi Grad visited the location where the construction of the stadium is planned.
Ivkovic rated the conceptual solution as positive and noted that it is very important for the location of the stadium to be well connected with the city and to provide uninterrupted arrival and departure of visitors.
“Representatives of the Football Association of BiH last year informed us that they are looking for a long-term solution for the national stadium. The construction of this stadium would be supported by FIFA and UEFA, but the state must prepare the entire project, which also includes finding location for its construction. The Municipality of Novi Grad proposed the location in Halilovici, which is owned by the municipality,” said the Mayor, Semir Efendic.
The 4th category of stadiums, among other things, fulfils the following conditions: terrain in the size 105×68 meters, VIP parking of 150 places, minimum 500 VIP seats, two studios in the stadium and other contents.
