The President of the RS, Milorad Dodik, announced that he will request from the new US administration to revise the decision on sanctions that he got from the old administration.
Dodik emphasized that he will try to explain the whole situation to representatives of the new administration, noting that he did not challenge the Dayton Agreement in any of his statement and that others talk more about the secession than the RS.
“New administration is coming to Washington, and they will obviously have to deal with more complex issues than my status. When things settle down a bit and when I see who is deciding on what, I will come up with a request to revise the decision on my sanctions,” said Dodik, as reported by Blic.
“I do not want Serbia and the RS to have a problem because of me. I do not consider myself as given by God and that I should stay here for a hundred years. This is not my inheritance. I have a mandate for two more years. I do not expect from Serbia, nor anyone else to back me up because people of the RS have my back. I do not expect any protection. Some “Westerners” are protecting me more than Vladimir Putin, and he is a great man. I’ll stop dealing with politics when I lose the elections,” said Dodik.
He noted that there is no secession in the RS and that the SNSD, led by him, is far from the decision on the referendum: “We said that we will sit in 2018 and see where we are with the implementation of the Dayton Agreement and return of jurisdiction and that if this does not happen, SNSD will think about how to raise the issue of peaceful secession from BiH.”
He spoke about the allegations that he came to power with the help of the Americans.
“I was elected for the Prime Minister of the RS in 1998 in a constellation of relations. Some people said that “these and those voted,” and some that it could not pass without interfering of Americans. It is possible that this was the case, but the Americans worked for their own interest. After two years, I was not their player in their perception and they have done everything to bring Ivanic as the Prime Minister but the story that they are supporting me all these 20 years remained.”
