The private sector of the metal industry has been facing the lack of skilled workforce for years, which is one of the conditions for the production and exports. The Municipality of Bosanska Krupa recognized the need for this workforce, and thus was started a new project for training of welders.
The main goal of this project is to establish a system for the increase of the competitiveness of workforce and its training, in accordance with the needs of employers through a local partnership for employment in Bosanska Krupa, the improvement of the regulatory framework for practical training in the USC and the realization of the announced education program for 80 unemployed persons and the employment of 76 people who successfully complete their training.
The project is funded by the EU and implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The metal industry has experienced the expansion in the last couple of years, and together with the traditional wood and agricultural sector, it is now one of the strategic economy sectors that employs a significant number of workers. Production facilities of the metal industry are mostly located in business zones.
There is a total of 7 companies in the metal processing sector, of which four are exporters that achieve more than 75 % of total exports of this municipality. The most important business subjects are Krupa kabine, Bosankar, ZAH and Novi Most. About 500 people are employed in the metal sector. The most common activities in this sector are: production of cabins for work machines, galvanization, fine metal processing, production of trailers and semi-trailers, etc.
Thanks to the positive swing in the manufacturing industry, which is mostly based on the metal sector and the increase of the degree of product finalization in installed capacities, Bosanska Krupa became one of the largest exporters in the USC.
