The 26-years-old Lejla Gurbeta from Bugojno will become the first doctor of science in the field of bioengineering in BiH.
“I’m writing my doctoral thesis on the topic of measurement of parameters in incubators for neonatal and pediatric patients as methods for the increase of safety and reliability of performance of those devices, which also makes direct impact on both safety of the patient and efficacy of the treatment. The process of collecting and processing a large amount of data within this research has been completed and several scientific papers and book chapters have been successfully published with renowned world publishers like Springer Nature, and publications that will be published by Elsevier are currently in the process of preparation,” said Lejla Gurbeta.
While attending her doctoral studies, she is also engaged in both real and academic sector. She performs the function of a technical manager of the laboratory in Verlab, which is a metrological laboratory that performs legal verifications of measuring devices in the healthcare sector with the function of measurement.
She is also an active member of the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in BiH, where she actively participates in projects whose main aim is to popularize this field in BiH and encourage young people to get engaged in the scientific work, as well as to strengthen the network of young professionals in the fields of biological, medical and engineering sciences. It is a non-governmental organization and a representative of this field in the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering & Science (EAMBES).
She also completed additional specializations in the field of the inspection of medical equipment, biomedical engineering and medical electronics in the period from 2014 to 2016.
Moreover, she wrote more than 30 publications, including some chapters of books, journals, and papers that were published at international conferences.
All of her plans for the future period are directed towards professional training, such as postdoctoral studies, professional exchanges etc.
