The three-day meeting at the high-level “New Role of China in International Relations: The Belt and Road Initiative” took place in Beijing.
In cooperation with the University of Peking, the Pangoal Institute and the Schwartzman Postgraduate School, the Nizami Ganjavi International Center brought together more than 40 present and former heads of states, governments and ministers, as well as representatives of high politics and the Chinese academic community from a total of 16 countries.
Zlatko Lagumdzija participated in the panel “China as the Actor of Global Security: Organizations, Interest, and Values”, and he talked about different aspects of cooperation of China, especially in the field of cooperation with European countries in the format 16 + 1 (China and 16 other countries including BiH).
Lagumdzija modified the second panel, “China as a Global Management Actor”, and he further emphasized the importance of a more open approach as well as participation of China through further intensification of international relations, including BiH and its experience in projects of global management.
“The economic power of China, which was increased by 30 times since the fall of the Berlin Wall while the economic power of world was increased 4 times, created a new precondition for recomposition of the world into a new world order in which we have the unavoidable quartet consisted of the United States, the EU, Russia, and China,” stated Lagumdzija.
Industrialization, modernization, and the process of development of new technologies and innovations are creating good preconditions for the development of the “Belt and Road Initiative” through three dimensions: an interconnection dimension, a physical dimension, and a dimension of new ideas.
Lagumdzija especially noted the importance of education in the future, thus opening the process of cooperation with the University of Beijing and the Schwartzman Postgraduate School, with the aim of “connecting” the knowledge, skills, and abilities of BiH and the Chinese academic community in the following period.
“It is especially important to start this process in BiH as the place of intersection of different cultures, religions, and traditions. In this way, the young people from BiH and China have the opportunity to become leaders of a new generation of entrepreneurs, and they will be able to achieve this through innovative projects, and gaining of knowledge and skills from both countries,” as said in a statement.
