President of the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska Borko Đurić said that the volume of trade exchange between Republika Srpska and the Rusian Federation amounted to 710 million BAM last year, of which less than 23 million BAM refers to the export from Srpska.
Đurić stated that fruit dominated in the export, but that overall possibilities are far greater.
After a meeting with delegation from Saint Petersburg, at which it was discussed about possibilities for increasing the volume of trade exchange, Đurić told the press that they also proposed cooperation in the field of electromechanical, wood processing and other industries.
“We will strive to enable several our companies present their products on the market of Saint Petersburg as soon as possible, and the Russian partners promised that this will be enabled,” Đurić highlighted.
Đurić added that in this field the RS has products which are of very similar quality or even on the same level as products by other global manufacturers, but their price is far below the price of those other products.
President of The Committee for Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market Development Elgiz Idrisovič Kačajev said that working groups were formed based on the agreement between Republika Srpska and Saint Petersburg, which will be committed to the implementation of economic projects.
Kačajev expressed belief that the economic cooperation of Srpska and Russia will be improved with the cooperation of chambers of commerce, as main instruments for connection between Russia and Srpska.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Đokić.
