War criminal and former General of the Army of Republika Srpska Zdravko Tolimir died last night in Hague.
Tolimir was sentenced with life imprisonment for genocide in Srebrenica in April last year.
This criminal was the right arm of the accused war criminal Ratko Mladic in the last war and his assistant for intelligence and security affairs.
In 2005, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) raised indictment against him, Vujadin Popovic, Ljubisa Beara, Drago Nikolic, Ljubomir Borovcanin and others for participating in a joint criminal act, committing genocide in Srebrenica and the attack on Zepa.
He was charged for genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide, extermination, murder, persecution, deportation and forcible transfer of Bosniak population from Srebrenica. During the trial, the prosecution presented 126 witnesses, while Tolimir decided to defend himself and called only 4 witnesses.
In December 2012, the Hague tribunal found him guilty for six of seven charges and sentenced him to life imprisonment. In 2015, the final verdict confirmed this sentence, even though the first instance verdict rejected that genocide occurred in Zepa.
