Mayor of Sarajevo Abdullah Skaka met with the Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Kazuya Ogawa, who congratulated him on being elected for the first man of the city of Sarajevo. On this occasion, Skaka thanked the Government and people of Japan, which is one of the largest bilateral donors and who played a significant role in the postwar reconstruction of Sarajevo and BiH.
The mayor Skaka and Ambassador Ogawa expressed satisfaction with the establishment of friendly relations between cities of Sarajevo and Hiroshima:
“Our wish is to put in function the Declaration on the exchange of experiences and cooperation between the two cities, and to start the implementation of the agreed forms of cooperation in the field of management and recycling, culture and tourism”, said the mayor of Sarajevo.
Skaka expressed his readiness to provide what is necessary for the organization of the “Days of Japan in Sarajevo”.
On this occasion, Ambassador Ogawa called the mayor of Sarajevo to participate on the 9th General Conference of Mayors for Peace, which will take place from 7th to 10th August this year in Nagasaki, given the membership of Sarajevo in the international association of “Mayors for Peace” program, which supports the total abolition of nuclear weapons by 2020.
