On the occasion of the commencement of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina over the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, a solemn ceremony raising the flag of B&H was held in the main square in front of the City Hall in Strasbourg.
The solemn ceremony was attended by a large number of officials from the political, economic, cultural and military life of Strasbourg and Alsace, the representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Secretariat of the Council of Europe, as well as a number of BH citizens and friends of B&H in Alsace and France.
Besides the Ambassador of BiH to the Council of Europe, Šahović, the Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg in charge of the International Cooperation and the Ambassador of Belgium to the Council of Europe (on behalf of the departing Belgian presidency) also addressed those present at the ceremony.
In his address, the Ambassador Šahović stressed the great importance that B&H gives to the first historic presidency of the Council of Europe, presented the program of the presidency, and gave thanks to the city of Strasbourg for it’s help in organizing the promotional activities of the country over the next six months.
The flag of B&H will remain on show at the square in front of the City Hall in Strasbourg for the next six months, it was announced from the Office of Public Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H.
