The First International Conference on English Language, Literature, Teaching and Translation Studies (CELLTTS) opened on September 18th 2015 at the premises of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, and ended on September 19th. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, with the assistance of the British Council, Babel and Buybook.
The First International Conference on English Language, Literature, Teaching and Translation Studies (CELLTTS) is the first conference organized by the Department for English at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. More than 80 participants from nearly ten countries of the world participated at the conference, said Nejla Kalajdzisalihovic, a member of the Organizational Committee.
Within the two-day conference, sessions from literature, language, translation studies and methodology were organized, held by the professors from B&H, Croatia, Slovenia, Turkey and the USA.
“What is very important to point out is the presentation of the Founding Assembly of the Society of Anglicists in B&H. There is also a giveaway, and the prizes are books and dictionaries given by the bookstore Buybook”, said Kalajdzisalihovic.
The plenary session on the grammar of spoken English was held by Bas Aarts, a professor of English Language and Literature at the University of London.
“This conference is very significant because it unites all the people in the region and the world who are interested in English language, and all that is related to English language is a big event for me”, said Aarts. He added that he is impressed by the knowledge of English language of the citizens of B&H.
The conference ended on Saturday, September 19th, with an official closing ceremony.
