Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda opened yesterday in Stolac the eleventh edition of the fair “Herzegovinian fruits of the Mediterranean”, at which 120 exhibitors from BiH, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia participate.
Bevanda said that it is his great pleasure to see the fair growing every year and turning into an increasingly important and significant event.
“In the focus are exhibitors, hardworking people who prove that one can live of their work,” said Bevanda, emphasizing that every form of support provided by institutions to this fair is very important and beneficial.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water management of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Donko Jović said that new projects in olive growing will be launched, first of which should be implemented in cooperation with one of the largest global producers of olives, the Spanish company “Agro Sevilla”.
According to the Mayor of the Stolac Municipality Stjepan Bošković, the primary aim of the fair is to help agricultural producers who know how to make a final product and sell it on the market.
Fair manager Zoran Raič said that the focus of the fair is on pomegranate, figs, olives, honey, wine, immortelle and products made of these raw materials. He said that the event represents a crown for the year-long work and efforts of producers, through the presentation and promotion of their fruits and products.
Apart from usual high quality fruits, during the two day event which closes today the visitors had and will have the opportunity to enjoy the sumptuous palette of aromatic and medicinal herbs.
This year’s fair is also complemented with a series of expert workshops on immortelle, olives and medicinal herbs.
