Candidate of pro-Bosniak parties for mayor of Srebrenica, Camil Durakovic, stated yesterday in Sarajevo that he will not accept defeat.
Durakovic said that his legal team will prepare a lawsuit until Wednesday, on the results of local elections in Srebrenica according to which his opponent Mladen Grujicic achieved victory and became the new mayor of this municipality.
Durakovic said at the press conference that he opposed to that decision and that they will try to challenge the electoral process in Srebrenica because, according to him, they have a range of evidence.
“We will insist on counting votes of BH citizens who voted by mail. Unfortunately, the CEC did not accept the two-thousand-plus ballots received in this way and within the legal deadline,” he stated.
They will insist on re-counting of votes from all polling stations in Srebrenica because there was a number of irregularities, said Durakovic.
“I do not accept defeat, nor can I do it until the electoral process is not completed until the end. My legal team, led by Nedim Ademovic, is engaged to properly prepare our legal action,” noted Durakovic.
He considers the intrusion of the Special Police of the MIA RS in the room where was election materials as a serious violation of the electoral process, which is the reason why they will ask for recount. He concluded that he will address the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH if the CEC rejects his appeal.
“Our goal is to provide a transparent electoral process,” he said.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that, according to the results of the local elections, Mladen Grujicic, candidate of the Serbian parties, is the new mayor of the municipality of Srebrenica.
