Students who study at the University of Sarajevo started moving in their rooms in the Student Center Sarajevo and all capacities will be filled by the end of September. A novelty is that a new, reconstructed pavilion will be opened in October, and it will be the most modern facility of its type in the region.
According to the Director of the Student Center Sarajevo Emir Kadrić, this year the Student Center can accommodate 1.650 students, including students from abroad.
“Reconstruction of the Pavilion 2 on Bjelave is currently in progress. Coarse and fine works have been completed and now we are equipping it. The pavilion will have 45 double rooms, six single rooms and two rooms for students with developmental disabilities. That is a total of 98 beds that satisfy the highest criteria for nutrition and accommodation, of high A class with several stars,” Kadrić said.
Each room will have a fridge, TV and access to Internet, and the pavilion will also have joint premises for studying, relaxation, and a laundry room. Exterior and interior will be covered with video surveillance.
“Students will have cards for opening their rooms and using electricity. I claim that this is the most modern students accommodation in the region and something like a demonstration drill for us. The Sarajevo Canton invested one million BAM and we are thankful for that. We hope that in the next budgets they will provide means for reconstruction of other facilities on Bjelave, too,” said Kadrić.
The pavilion should be opened in November. Rooms will be offered to students who are already staying at the dormitory. All uninhabitable facilities on Bjelave will be put out of function then, and currently two of them are not working.
Kadrić emphasized that conditions for moving in the dormitory are the same as in previous years and the prices will not increase.
