President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik sent a letter to the members of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH on the coordination mechanism.
Dodik’s letter, in which he gave consent to include the objections by the representative of the Croat nation into the final version of the coordination mechanism, stated the following:
“Coordination mechanism is, as you already know, of critical and essential importance for the process of European integration.
That is because I believe that the meeting which was held in East Sarajevo at the initiative of the head of EU Delegation in BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark is very significant because it contributed to the completion of the perennial process of harmonization of the coordination mechanism at the benefit of all levels of authority and all nations in BiH.
I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to once again express my full and unequivocal support for the harmonized solutions from that meeting.
However, it is my obligation to deny all claims and allegations according to which one may conclude that these solutions are directed at the expense of the third constituent nation in BiH, the Croat nation.
Nevertheless, while following reactions of the representative of the Croat nation in BiH regarding the harmonized solutions from the mentioned meeting, I want to clearly stated that I understand the mentioned objections and that I believe that there is a basic need for their consideration.
On this occasion, I want to emphasize that the atmosphere on the held meeting was entirely in function of finding an acceptable solution, not in function of creating a new problem or reaching a solution that would be at the expense of any constituent nation in BiH.
I consider this an additional reason for understanding and considering the objections expressed by the representatives of the Croat nation in BiH.
In accordance with that, I believe that the Article 3, Paragraph 3 of the reached solution of the Coordination mechanism should be complemented with the following construction: ‘and representatives of governments of cantons and the Brčko District in accordance with constitutional jurisdictions for the content that is being considered at the session, i.e. that is the subject of decision.’
I am convinced that with this complement we would eliminate reasons for public debate and thus definitely create conditions for completion of this perennial process,” Dodik wrote.
