Cadet basketball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the next season will perform in the A-Division of European basketball, among 16 best European teams.
Their greatest success of B&H Cadets was achieved by winning the second place at the European Championship in B Division which ended in Sarajevo. At the finals, B&H National Team was defeated by Denmark with the result 72:69, and that was the only defeat in the competition.
“There’s no reason for dissatisfaction. We were hoping the first place, but that is how the sport is like, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We have achieved our goal, and it’s placement in the A division. It was nice to play in a hall filled with our fans”, said the captain of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nedim Đedović.
By joining the A division cadet team was congratulated and thanked by the senior national team coach Aleksandar Petrović, and satisfaction for this success could not hide even the cadets’ selector Emir Halimić.
“We worked very hard in order to enter among the top 16 teams of Europe. I’m sorry that we did not win the first place, but we showed character in the game in which at one point we lost 15 points difference. We brought the match at a better result, but for the ultimate success we missed some luck. I am happy because we prepared grounds for future generations of young players“, concluded Halimić.
The Secretary General of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Harun Mahmutović stressed that the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) for the fourth consecutive year is more than satisfied with the organization of the championships for young basketball players in Sarajevo, but B&H can not get to host the organization of upcoming competition, because for the European Championship of Division A, hall must be air-conditioned , which is not the case in B&H.
