Regulatory Commission for Energy of the Republic of Srpska (RS), at an extraordinary meeting in Trebinje today, decided to suspend, or more precisely, to postpone the enforcement of the previous decision to increase the price of electricity in RS.
The decision was suspended until the interpretation of competent authority that the Commission can make a decision on increase in electricity prices if most of its members are in technical mandate.
“Since the regulations which are defining the work of the Regulatory Commission has not accurately prescribed the operating mode of the Regulatory Commission in a situation where the mandate expires for most of the members of the Commission, and the competent authority have not made a decision on the appointments yet, the Regulatory Commission, at the same time, asked the competent authorities for interpretation of legal provisions regarding this issue, “as confirmed by the Regulatory Commission.
To recall, on the 11th of June, the Regulatory Commission for Energy of the RS made a decision according to which, starting from the 1st of July, an increase in the average electricity price for customers in the public supply system would take place and would amount to 8.1 %, and the increase in average electricity price for customers in the category of households, would amount to 9, 4 %.
