Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Dragan Covic, met in Geneva with the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander van der Bellen. The meeting took place at the margins of the session at a high-level, as part of the 37th assembly of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The interlocutors exchanged views on how to improve relations between the two countries. The chairman of the BiH Presidency, Covic met intercolutor with activities on the European path and the soon submission of the Questionnaire, which will fulfill the key formal requirement for confirmation of a candidate status, and then assumption for the opening of individual negotiating chapters.
President Van der Bellen emphasized that mood regarding the EU enlargement to the Western Balkans has improved significantly lately, which is an opportunity for all countries, including BiH. He expressed his full support to the European path of BiH, and welcomed efforts on achieving the consensus on the Electoral law reform which will protect the principle of legitimate representation and citizens’ rights for full participation in the political life of the state.
At the end of the meeting, Covic called on the President Van der Bellen to visit BiH, as the BiH Presidency announced.
