Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Covic held a video call on Friday with the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy (EU) Oliver Varhelyi.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EU assistance, economic measures, candidate status for EU membership, the migration crisis and other topics.
Furthermore, they discussed economic measures and a recovery plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, emphasizing the importance of further cooperation in combating the consequences. It was pointed out that BiH should have a special place in the recovery plan, and that such a place will be provided in the coming period.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of taking BiH candidate status for EU membership, and that it was necessary to move closer to membership in the European family as soon as possible.
Emphasizing the 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, satisfaction was expressed with the recently achieved steps, as well as the absolute commitment to meet the priorities that will contribute to further strengthening the European future of BiH.
