The realization of one of the largest post-war projects in BiH – the mine and thermal power plant Kamengrad (RiTE) in Sanski Most, which is worth more than a billion BAM, was announced a few days ago in Budapest.
The signing of contracts with Chinese investors is expected in the middle of the next year, and after that will follow concrete activities on the project.
From the FIPA was announced that the Memorandum of Cooperation on Realization of the Project of Mine and Thermal Power Plant Kamengrad was signed between companies Lager Ltd. and China Energy Group and as it is not available for third parties.
“It defines further obligations of both sides and the deadlines for their execution. The Memorandum on Cooperation represents the result of a series of meetings and arrangements and prefeasibility study,” as noted from FIPA.
When we observe the economic sense, the project of Kamengrad is historical, considering the fact that the value of the project is above 1.000.000.000 BAM, and taking into account its importance for the development of the municipality, canton, as well as the whole country. It also represents one of the largest investments in BiH.
The investor China Energy Group is the largest Chinese group that is realizing projects from the energy sector around the world. The American Journal of Engineering New-Record (ENR) published a list of 250 leading international entrepreneurs, according to which China Energy Group is placed as 11th on the list, while it occupies 4th position in the Top 150 Global Design Firms.
The Mayor of Sanski Most Faris Hasanbegovic recently stated that the city authorities are supporting this project, but that it needs to be complied with all legally prescribed legislation, especially from the sector of ecology and health protection.
The Government of the FBiH issued a decision in 2016 with which the construction of a thermal power plant in Sanski Most is considered as a strategic project in BH energy sector. As noted, with a capital investment of 1.020.000.000 BAM, it will be one of the largest investments in BiH.
