The ceremony on the occasion of the 1st of March, the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina was organized tonight in Sarajevo by the members of the Presidency of B&H, Bakir Izetbegović and Željko Komšić.
After the national anthem, the members of the Presidency addressed the attending guests and congratulated all citizens of B&H the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bakir Izetbegović reminded all attending guests that 21 years ago the majority of citizens of B&H responded affirmatively to a referendum question: ”Do you vote for an independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country of equal nations and citizens?”
“In times that will come, every citizen, regardless of nationality or religion, has to be equal in its rights and obligations. Our second obligation concerns those who defended our country. We have paid already one part of the debt, but we cannot ever repay and return it fully. This moral debt that we feel is a debt towards our heroes, to those whom we call the miracles of Bosnian resistance.”- said Izetbegović.
According to him those who make crisis in our country they eventually leave, but our country stays and it will be even more stable and prosperous.
In a brief address, Željko Komšić congratulated all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the country and in the Diaspora the Independence Day and thanked the attending guests for making this event even more special with their presence.
He also said that the members of the Presidency did not prepare big speeches, announcing a group of young musician from Zenica ”Bel Canto”, whose a capella performance delighted all guests.
