Orthodox believers all over BiH celebrated Easter holiday, and among them are the residents of the village Bocinja near Maglaj. They noted that good relations between the relatives and neighbours is crucial for success and the main message of the Easter holiday.
Today, there are Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks or Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Muslims living in Bocinja, and everyone, without problems, are celebrating their holidays.
“Easter is a holiday when we are gathering with our family and friends. If we have money, we buy lamb, if we have no money, we prepare chicken, but the most important thing is that we are all happy and that we forget about all the problems and issues on this day,” said one of the locals, Dusko Jovanovic.
The Paroch Vladimir Kukic said that preparations for Easter lasted for seven days, and that this day represents the greatest joy for believers.
He added that the village of Bocinja is a great example of the coexistence of neighbours of different religions, and that Bosniaks will send the message of peace and good wishes to Serbs, and Serbs will wish them the same during the Eid. Kukic noted that the largest problem of all peoples is the economic situation in our country, which is the reason why young people are leaving Bocinja, Maglaj, as well as the entire country.
Easter in Bocinja will be marked by morning liturgy and sharing Easter eggs in the Temple of St. Petka, and then the Easter lunch and gathering with family and friends will take place in all the houses.
