In the latest edition of its magazine, the Football Association interviewed the first man of this organization Alexander Ceferin. Slovenian, who had recently arrived as the first man to UEFA, with this interview is showed from a slightly different angle.
He succeeded Michel Platini and gave some interesting answers to interview questions, but said some things that will make a special sympathy to the football fans in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The first football game I watched live was between Yugoslavia and Denmark, which was played in Ljubljana. We played excellently, but I liked Safet Susic and Zlatko Vujovic the most. I remember the stadium was filled to capacity. However, I could not properly monitor the developments on the ground in front of me because it was very crowded”, recalled Ceferin.
A lawyer, who is very influential in the European football revealed which club he liked the most.
“As a child used to watch football, in particular, I loved to watch Hajduk the most. At that time it was one of the best clubs in Yugoslavia – admitted the president of UEFA that was once a fan of Bila from Split, whose first chief for many years was another former coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Blaz Sliskovic.
It seems that the Ceferino’s passion for football is closely related to the players from Bosnia and Herzegovina. In fact, one Bosnia was responsible for the greatest football joy of the current president of UEFA. It was a goal by Zlatko Dedic (born in Bihac) for placement of Slovenia in the World Cup in 2010.
“I will remember that for a long time. We won Russia and in that way made placement on the Championship in South Africa. Zlatko Dedic scored a decisive goal, that was an amazing day,” concludes Ceferin.
