The 23rd anniversary of the crime in which members of HVO killed 45 Bosniak civilians was marked in the settlement of Vrbanja near Bugojno.
Many veterans and other delegations laid flowers at the memorial in Vrbanja, where they paid tribute to all the martyrs of this village and BiH.
“Because of everything that happened in Vrbanja, the murder of Bosniak civilians who were between 19-82 years old, special importance should be given to this part of Bugojno,” said the Vice-President of the FBiH, Melika Mahmutbegovic.
“The obligation of all of us who are walking on the earth, especially in Vrbanja and Bugojno, is to stay persistent in the fight for the truth and justice, for us and the generations to come. We must use the experience of the past, not in order to take revenge, but to build a better world, in which those who have committed crimes, and whose names are already known, will be found in court and held responsible for their actions,” said Mahmutbegovic.
According to the Minister of Veterans Affairs of the FBiH Salko Bukvarevic, the obligation of all survivors in the war is to remember the victims and not to forget the martyrs, and to develop the country in needed direction.
“Therefore, our message is that the war, starvation, rape and everything that aggression on BiH brought, should never repeat to anyone. Prijedor, Srebrenica, Foca, Vrbanja and other places should never repeat,” said Bukvarevic.
From this place was appealed on the judicial authorities in BiH on the basis of present knowledge and documents, which were submitted by associations of war veterans from Bugojno, to prosecute those who are responsible for the crime in Vrbanja.
