On March 1st, Nihad Hrustanbegovic, Bosnian Dutch Maestro on the classical accordion, pianist and composer will perform concerts on the occasion of country’s Independence Day.
“At the invitation of Dr. Amira Redzic, the Head of Department of Culture in FBiH, UNESCO Coordinator and probably the first Lady of Culture in BiH and with the idea of Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka, I have probably the greatest honor so far in my life and career to play a solo concert at the Classical Accordion for the Diplomatic Corps in the Sarajevo City Hall during the ceremony of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina starting at 19.15,” Nihad Hrustanbegovic told Sarajevo Times.
The repertoire will be Vivaldi’s Winter of Four Years, Gymnopédies 1 & 3 – Erik Satie, Asturias – Isaac Albéniz, Chevaliers de Sangreal – Hans Zimmer, Take Five – Paul Desmond, Oblivion & Libertango – Astor Piazzolla, and for the end, the new composition on the piano “View from The White Fortress”, dedicated to Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the past 20 years Nihad Hrustanbegovic gave more than 1000 concerts and solo recitals : including 7 times in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam (3 times solo concert), France Tour Les 4 Saisons Vivaldi 2015, at La Cathedrale Notre Dame Le Puy en Valley (national monument of France, Pilgrimage Route Santiago de Compostela and since 1998 part of UNESCO World Heritage Site), with Grace Jones in Paradiso Amsterdam, with Flairck in Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, 2 times at Hall of Knights in the Hague, in the presence of the former Queen of Netherlands Prinses van Oranje-Nassau Beatrix. As a composer Hrustanbegovic made several music works for accordion, piano and orchestra including Wereldpromenade (Stork suite) for the Heineken Extra Cold TV Commercial (2007), Balkan Sorrow for the Swiss short movie “Zimmer 606” (Winner of the international film awards in 2012) by Peter Volkart, Tango Village for Dutch documentary film Natural Born Farmers of Jack Janssen (2016) and Sevdah for Petronella for Wounded Gold of Mustafa HadziIbrahimovic made in the Netherlands and presented at Sarajevo Film Festival in 2017.
Hrustanbegovic released 9 solo albums since 2007. The Best of Concert Accordion (2007), Opus 7 The Cross over (2010), Live In Concertgebouw Amsterdam (2011), Sevdah for Petronella (2013 piano solo album) Black Orpheus (2013) , Vivaldi The Four Seasons (2015) , Une belle journée (2016) In the Valley of Love and Peace (2016 piano solo album) and Between Sunrise and Sunset Opus Magnum XII (2017 piano solo album).
