At today’s session, the European Commission put Bosnia and Herzegovina in the list of countries that have been granted chicken meat exports to the countries of the European Union.
As the portal Avaz.ba learns from reliable sources from the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, in the coming days, the Veterinary Office should make a list of companies that will be listed on the list of chicken meat exports to the EU.
As it is known, for a long time the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations has been working on obtaining a license to export chicken meat to the EU.
An official announcement from the European Commission on this news should be made public by the beginning of next week.
Our country has a large potential for the export of meat and meat products. The production of chicken could be increased by 50 % by entering the European market.
A step towards this was made after a visit by the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Commission, and they sent a positive report to our authorities .
Therefore, domestic producers of chicken could produce up to 15 tons of chicken and chicken products annually instead of current 10 tons. Consumable eggs could end up on the European market soon as well.
However, red meat probably will not get permission for the export in the next year. A disease like a cow madness is the main reason for the extra cautiousness of the EU, even though we have not been recorded as the country in which it was registered.
