The BIH Minister of Defense Zekerijah Osmić received yesterday the Ambassador of Spain to BiH Aurora Mejia-Herrasquin and the Military Attache of Spain to BiH Brigadier Antonio Cortinas.
This was a farewell visit by Cortinas because the military-diplomatic mission of the Kingdom of Spain to BiH will close.
Minister Osmić and Ambassador Mejia spoke about the current political issues, and especially focused on meeting the last conditions for the activation of the Action Plan for NATO membership and the registration of prospective military sites in BiH.
Minister Osmić spoke to Ambassador Mejia on the activities undertaken in terms of promptly resolving this issue and said that the BIH Parliament could very quickly discuss the draft decision on the issue of registration of promising military sites.
During the meeting, they spoke about the need to prioritize the handling of surplus arms and ammunition and the importance of restarting the process after a slight delay, which is evident in the recent period.
Ambassador Mejia said that the government of her country is interested in solving these issues and said that the Kingdom of Spain is committed to continue to assist BiH as it has been doing in the past 20 years.
The BiH Minister of Defense Zekerijah Osmić thanked Ambassador Mejia and Brigadier Cortinas on the support and help in projects that have been realized until now and wished Brigadier Cortinas success in his further career, announced the BiH Ministry of Defense.
