Association of Film Workers of Bosia and Herzegovina, with support from the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, chose the film Death in Sarajevo by Danis Tanović as this year’s BiH candidate for the Oscar Academy Award.
Oscar award is presented by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the award ceremony is one of the most viewed television programmes in the USA.
The film had its world premiere this year at the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for the best film in the main competition of this prestigious festival.
Association of Film Workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been nominating a film for the category “The Best Foreign Feature Film” for 14 years now.
In 2001, the film No Man’s Land, also by Danis Tanović, was nominated for the Academy Award. In March 2002, this film won the prestigious award Oscar for the best foreign film.
