B&H, after the recession in the previous year, recorded a slight economic growth in the first half of this year. According to the report on economic trends for the first half of the year of B&H Directorate for Macroeconomic Analysis, the economic growth was primarily caused by a sharp increase in exports and the industry development.
Despite the absence of growth in major export markets in the first half of this year, the exports of goods registered a real growth of more than 15 percent compared to the first half of last year.
The jump in electricity production intended for export was one of the main factors of this growth. The electricity export value in the first half of the year is nearly tripled compared to the same period last year.
The report also notes that despite the quite evident reduction in disposable incomes of citizens, the private consumption recorded a slight growth.
