Karateist Meris Muhovic and judoka Aleksandra Samardzic were named for athletes of BiH for 2016 in the 72nd of selection of the Sports Federation of BiH.
At the official manifestation of selection for the most successful BH athletes, that was held last night at the National Theatre, the awards were presented in 19 other categories.
In the competition of the Paralympic sports, for the best athlete in the last year was named Dzevad Hamzic, a member of BH team in sitting volleyball, who won the silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
For the most successful BH coach in the last year was named the coach of women’s national karate team of BiH Miroslav Klepic and in the competition of Paralympic sports was named Mirza Hrustemovic, the coach of BH national team in sitting volleyball.
Special recognition for the results achieved in the last Olympic cycle 2012 – 2016 was presented to the athlete Amel Tuka, judoka Larisa Ceric and volleyball player Sabahudin Delalic.
The most successful club in the men’s football is Croatian sports club Velez from Mostar and in the competition of women table tennis club Spin 2012 from Sarajevo.
Football National Team of BiH U-17 is the most successful national team, which won the eighth place at the European Championship. In the competition of Paralympic sports, for the most successful was declared the sitting volleyball team, which won the Paralympic silver.
Awards for the best BH juniors were presented to Toni Miletic (judo) and Adna Boric (taekwondo).
Kickboxer Mirza Pramenkovic and volleyball player Edin Begic received the award “Ambassador of Sport”, while the award “Mirza Delibasic” was presented to basketball player Melisa Brcaninovic.
Awards for “Lifetime Achievement” were presented to: Josip Brumec, Petko Radovic, Vehbija Tokic, Izet Jelic, Bibija Kerla, Zelimir Vuckovic and Vlada Raguz, while the award “Boro Glusac” for sports journalism was presented to: Muhamed Bikic, Mirza Kolar, Almir Sokolovic and Jasmin Ligata.
The Sports Federation of BiH this year awarded prizes to the most successful athlete students, participants of the competition that was organized by the European and World university association. Awards were given to nine athletes – Ivona Cavar, Harun Sadikovic, Armin Gredic, Ivan Solic, Rijad Dedejic, Selam Sejdinovic, Patar Zadro, Mirnesa Bektac and Najla Kaljanac.
The criteria for selection were the placements on the Olympic Games, World and European championships, regional and national competitions, based on the proposals of the saports unions.
