Members of the Association “Women of Srebrenica” today and every 11th of the month in Tuzla, with a peaceful protest walk, reminded the public to horrible crimes and genocide against Bosniaks that took place in Srebrenica, in July 1995.
Women from Srebrenica reminded everyone that in a month, in the Bosnian Valley of the martyrs, in the Memorial Center in Potocari, will be held collective funeral for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
“Exactly a month from now, it will be exactly 21 years since the genocide that occurred in Srebrenica. So far 105 bodies were identified, whose souls will find peace, and the rest is 140 unidentified bodies whose families, because of the lack of bones, did not give consent for burial on the 11th of July in Potocari,” said the President of the Association “Women of Srebrenica”, Hajra Catic.
She urged the families to confirm, carry on with identification and bury their loved ones, stating that, if they find more bones later, the re-exhumation can be performed. Catic has once again expressed dissatisfaction with the process of identification and exhumation. A peaceful protest in Tuzla was joined by members of the NGO “Women in Black” from Belgrade.
Coordinator of the “Women in Black” Stasa Zajovic said that in Serbia is prevailing the climate of impunity in relation to crimes, as well as the denial of the Srebrenica genocide, emphasizing that it is visible at all levels, especially the political one.
She emphasized that there is no sign of recognition of the responsibilities of the national regime of Serbia for genocide in Srebrenica.
“We are requesting to proclaim the 11th of July as a day of commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide for 15 years, and to build a monument to the victims of Srebrenica,” she said, adding that none of the demands of civil society has not been done, nor taken into consideration.
