The dairy industry of BiH has recorded an increase in the production and purchase of raw milk in the past few years.
When it comes to processing, the production of consumable milk in the period 2013-2016 was reduced from 141.405 t to 124.627 t (12%), while production of yogurt and other fermented products was also increased and it reached 40.000 tons in the year of 2016. Furthermore, the production of sour cream was increased by 52 %, and cheese by 8 %.
An increase was recorded in both imports and exports during the nine months of 2017, in comparison to the same period last year.
The export of milk and dairy products in the observed period reached a value of about 57 million BAM and imports over 104 million BAM.
The most significant export markets of BiH are Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, and Kosovo. The import of products from this sector of industry was recorded from Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Serbia.
The Group adopted the Work Guidelines for the next year, through which it will work on addressing the issues in this sector and promotion of milk processing sector on both domestic and foreign market.
