The President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski awarded the Ambassador of B&H Koviljka Špirić the state medal of the commander cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for outstanding contribution to the development and improvement of bilateral relations between Poland and B&H.
On behalf of President Komorowski, this high Polish recognition to Ambassador Špirić was given by Jaromir Sokolowski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Office of the President of Poland at an official ceremony, which was held in the Presidential Palace on 28 January. In his address, Minister Sokolowski thanked Ambassador Špirić for a successful mission and results during her mandate.
Minister Sokolowski pointed out that the work and the efforts of Minister Špirić significantly influenced the improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries, and contributed to the development of a deep friendship between Poland and B&H.
He said that the role of the Ambassador in intensifying contacts with Polish people with B&H heritage, who now live in the area of the city of Boleslawiec, and who are closely tied to B&H and the tradition of its people.
The Minister said that thanks to her dedicated work, B&H is more well known to the Polish people now, as evidenced by the fact that in 2013 more than 65.000 Polish people visited B&H.
Minister Sokolowski said that Poland strongly supports B&H on its path towards the EU and NATO.
Ambassador Špirić expressed gratitude for the recognition and said that she was honored.
‘’She said that Poland is a positive example for B&H, and the friendship of Poland and B&H has a broad and solid foundation, and she is convinced that the friendly relations will continue to develop in the same spirit’’, announced the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H.
