Bosnian Defense Minister Sifet Podzic held a meeting with EUFOR Commander in Bosnia and Herzegovina Major General Reinhard Trischak at the Ministry’s headquarters on Monday.
The officials discussed the continuation of planned activities related to the training and cooperation of the Armed Forces of BiH and EUFOR this year.
Podzic expressed his gratitude to EUFOR, which, despite the difficult working circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is trying to implement the planned activities.
The key topic of the meeting was holding of the exercise “Quick Response 2020”, which is an integral part of the training and cooperation plan between the Armed Forces of BiH and EUFOR.
The holder of the planning and preparation of the exercise is EUFOR, and it is scheduled, if the epidemiological situation allows, to take place in late August on the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the AFBiH and security agencies in BiH.
Minister Podžić confirmed the readiness of the AFBiH to participate in the forces of one infantry platoon, one military police department and one Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD), following the example of the 2019 exercise.
General Trischak praised the activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, primarily in implementing preventive measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as activities to address the surplus of weapons, ammunition and explosive ordnance (MiMES) and the marking of small arms and light weapons.
