Microsoft B&H announced today that the winners of Imagine Cup 2014 Contest in B&H are the team “Chemicalium” from the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) in the innovation category and the team “The Lab of Dreams” from the University Slobomir P in the category of games.
The team “Chemicalium” consisted of students Amra Buljubašić, Ema Begulić, Hamza Sabljaković and Samir Šupčić, mentored by Mohamed El-Zayat from FIT. This team developed an interesting Windows Phone 8 Application that promotes learning of chemistry through the use of smart phones and NFC technology and hopes that through these applications young people will learn the chemical compounds faster. On the other hand, the team “The lab of dreams” consisted of students Aleksandar Kojić, Aleksandar Petrović, Milan Kojić and Miloš Kojić, supervised by Zoran Ilišković from the Department of Graphic Design of Art Academy Slobomir P University. This team offered a game for Windows Phone 8 through which children in a fun way can learn the basics of mathematics.
“Students from B&H this year in a successful way demonstrated their knowledge and innovation. They offered very interesting projects in the frame of Microsoft Imagine Cup Contest, with a clear focus on application solutions in education. Over the next few weeks, we will provide additional support to our teams in the presentation of projects and we hope to get a place in the grand finale in Redmond” said Enis Šahinović, Technical Evangelist at Microsoft B&H and the Leader of Imagine Cup Contest in B&H.
Teams from B&H after winning at the local competition passed the semifinal round, where they will continue their competition with teams from the rest of the world in the fight for the grand finale, which will be held at the headquarters of Microsoft, Redmond (Seattle, Washington state), at the beginning of July.
The prize fund is estimated at over one million US dollars, so through the main categories of competition (innovation, games and social responsibility) winners will receive 50.000 dollars, while the winners of “Imagine Cup challenges” will receive prize awards from 1.000 to 5.000 dollars.
