Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina publishes first release on the foreign affiliates in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Inward FATS) for 2017.
The first release contains main variables in accordance with EU Regulation 716/2007 in this field of statistics. Data are relating to enterprises that have majority foreign ownership (50% and more foreign ownership).
According to BiH’s Agency for Statistics, the number of foreign affiliates in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 870 which is 1.3% of the total number of business entities (enterprises and entrepreneurs) covered by structural business statistics (SBS coverage). The largest number of foreign affiliates are in sections Manufacturing (31.7%) and Wholesale and retail trade; repair or motor vehicles and motorcycles (30.7%).
12.8% of the total number of persons employed in SBS coverage is engaged in foreign affiliates. Employment structure in foreign affiliates shows that the largest part of persons employed is engaged in sections Manufacturing (59.8%) and Wholesale and retail trade; repair or motor vehicles and motorcycles (23.3%).
Observed by countries of origin, 68.5% of foreign affiliates originate from EU member countries which employ 73.5% of employed in foreign affiliates and 31.5% from countries outside the European Union with 26.5% of employed.
The share of foreign affiliates in the total realized value added at factor costs in SBS coverage was 18.8%. Manufacturing had a share of 49.5% and Wholesale and retail trade; repair or motor vehicles and motorcycles 22.6% in foreign affiliates.
64.3% оf the value added at factor costs of foreign affiliates is from seven countries, namely: Republic of Serbia (12.3%), Croatia (10.4%), Netherlands (10.1), Austria (8.7%), Slovenia (8.4%) then from Germany (8.0%) and Switzerland (6.3%).
