The Ambassador of Bulgaria to BiH Avgustina Cvetkova-Karabaseva, the Head of EU Delegation to BiH and the Special Representative of EU, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak, presented priorities of Bulgaria’s presidency over the EU in Sarajevo.
They agreed that priorities of Bulgaria over the next six months will be the Western Balkans countries and that BiH should use this opportunity to make a faster progress towards the EU.
Wigemark believes that Bulgaria’s presidency came in a right moment because the EU has been working to intensify its efforts in giving the support to the Western Balkan countries in the process of their integrations for years.
Ambassador Cvetkova-Karabaseva recalled that the focus of Bulgaria’s presidency over the EU is the area of Western Balkans, and she noted that this represents a great opportunity for the entire region to make a progress.
She emphasized that the European perspective is that the countries of the entire region should build sustainable peace, security, trust and good neighbourly relations.
Minister Crnadak also agreed that BiH should use the opportunity that will be provided in the next six months and he welcomed Bulgaria’s presidency priorities, and especially the one of them being strong support for the Balkans on its path towards the EU.
