During the past weekend, a huge storm passed over Europe. At least three people were killed due to lighting strikes in France, Germany and Poland, while a muddy torrent took three lives in Germany yesterday.
Since the storm is already being announced in Croatia and a yellow alarm is on in Serbia due to thunderstorms, the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of BiH confirmed that stormy weather comes to BiH as well.
This week will be rainy, especially as of Wednesday.
Weather will be rainy on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with stormy outbursts and thunder, and the north of the country will experience major problems.
What to do in case of thunder?
Given that the coming period will frequently bring lightning strikes, meteorologists warn that we should pay attention to where we are at the moment of thunder. If thunder is heard 30 seconds after the lightning, people should go indoors, avoid contact with metal objects and water from taps, and all electric appliances must be turned off. Those who find themselves outdoors when it starts to thunder, cars and trees can provide good protection but only if they are not lone and in the clear. If an accident happens anyway, it is good to know that victim of a lighting strike does not pose danger for the person who provides first aid.
No one should stand under a lone tree, in outdoor space and somewhere on a plain, because there is a great possibility that lightning will strike there. When a lightning strikes, electrical current from the clouds is being transmitted into the ground and then further spreads through the soil.
It is not true that umbrella with metal parts and mobile phones attract lightning strikes.
