Rector of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA), Muharem Avdispahic, met on Monday in Sarajevo with the rector of the Northwest Pedagogical University in China, Liao Zhongkui, with whom he talked about the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo and the achievement of academic cooperation between those two institutions with the aim of exchanging students and teaching staff.
Official opening of the Confucius Institute will take place on Thursday, 2nd April in the Center for Interdisciplinary studies of the University of Sarajevo.
Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo is to be established in the cooperation with Northwest Pedagogical University from China with the aim of strengthening cultural and educational cooperation between BiH and PR China and the promotion of Chinese culture and language.
The mission of Confucius institutes, as a non-profit educational institutions, is to contribute to better understanding of Chinese language and culture among other nations, to develop friendly relations between PR China and countries of the world and to encourage the development of multiculturalism at the global level.
More than 1.200 Confucius institutes and classrooms operates in 140 countries today in the world.
Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo will be the first such institute in BiH, whose opening will be held at the day of marking the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between PR China and BiH, as announced from the Press Service of UNSA.
